What Is Birth Doula Support?

A positive birth experience isn't about the absence of fear -- it's about having the support that allows fear to take its rightful place so you can trust yourself and radically surrender to the process.

Birth support = continuous, evidence-based, compassionate care throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

It means walking alongside you throughout the entire perinatal period, arming you with evidence-based research, strengthening your ability to make informed decisions, advocating for your birth preferences, and helping you prepare your body and mind for labor through developing mindset practices, daily movement routines, cervical ripening techniques, etc.

I offer emotional and physical support through the fears and questions that arise, by helping you build a solid toolkit for managing the intensity and unknowns of labor--whether your birth is medicated, unmedicated, or somewhere in between.

Having a doula doesn't guarantee the birth of your dreams or that all of your birth wishes will go according to plan, but instead it gives you the SUPPORT and KNOWLEDGE to make informed decisions that protect and empower you to confidently and unapologetically own your labor and birth experience.

What Sets Me Apart?

I am a seasoned doula with six years of experience. I work with a team of amazing doulas who support and mentor each other with shared knowledge, expertise and backup support.

As a social worker, my support is focused on trauma informed care, especially for those who have had traumatic experiences in their past or those who are hoping to decrease the chances of sustaining birth trauma.

I do my best to work collaboratively with the medical professionals who are attending to my clients. I respect the medical model of care, while also believing that the midwifery model of care should have equal respect in all birthing environments. I believe there should be space for both models to work together harmoniously for the benefit of each birthing woman.

I serve birthing women in all settings where a trained medical professional is present, whether it is home, birth center, or hospital. For many women birthing in the hospital setting, the medical environment can have negative impacts on the physiological process of labor. My presence is confident, calm, peaceful, and reassuring in an effort to bring regulation to my client's nervous system.

I believe that everyone in the birthing space should be working towards the same goal, which is to uphold the desires and values of our clients as a number one priority while maintaining safety for both mother and baby.

I truly believe that your power is in your choice, so I work hard in order for my clients to feel well-informed and educated through each decision that arises in the labor process. I am always honest and forthright about any concerns I have that arise in the labor process because each of my clients deserves to be fully informed and treated like the competent adults they are.
